I'm so ready for my vacation to start.

It being a Microsoft device I'm not that surprised. But there seems to be a growing space for Linux powered laptops so when I eventually replace this thing I should have some good options.

Display problems mostly. Similar hardware related bugs that the Surface Book suffers from in which Microsoft has worked around with driver and firmware tweaks.

Linux on the Surface Book is proving to be too unstable for my needs right now so I'll go back to running Linux using VirtualBox on Windows. Long term I'll be upgrading to a laptop that runs Linux out of the box.

Unwinding this evening.

I'm trying to decide if I should spend my evening doing some sys admin stuff or if should work on code. One is work the other is for fun.

MATE has been my preference as well. Although I'm taking the time to play a little with others just to see the state of things since it's a new install.

@kdfrawg It wasn't Linux hoops I had to jump through. It was Windows. Between secure boot and freeing up space it took some doing. Linux install was painless after that.

I had to jump through some hoops but I has Linux on my laptop now.
