@matigo Yeah it's going to be a long road. This area already had a tight housing market. With so many houses lost it'll be that much more difficult. I suspect there will be a lot of good people who leave the area.
@matigo My immediate neighborhood is in good shape. The fire made it to about a half mile from us. Some of the other neighborhoods not so lucky though. There were a lot of houses and businesses lost.
@indigo Our house and neighborhood are fine. Just cleaning up some of the ash and smoke smell. Nearby (less than a mile) a lot of houses and businesses were destroyed though. We were very lucky.
Wanted to let folks know that we are back in our home safe and sound. We have water, power, gas, and even Internet connectivity! So now we are in clean up mode and helping our community recover. #SonomaCountyStrong
@phoneboy Yeah things have been nuts. The community around here is amazing and everyone has been pulling together and helping out wherever possible.
@phoneboy There are a few hot spots in the area. Fortunately the neighborhood was spared. But the area is still unsafe so it'll be a bit longer until it's clear.
My wife managed to get into the house for 5 min with a police escort so we can say for certain we still have our home. The bummer is the area is still closed for a few more days. So heading south for a bit to escape the smoke.
In SF today for a bit of distraction. The Academy of Sciences are giving free admission to those impacted by the fires.
Just a quick check-in for those wondering. Family and I are still safe staying with family in Rohnert Park. Things are still very much uncertain but we are hoping for the best.
